Knocked down & Getting back up

Out of the blue we get hit with things we do not expect.  From experience this has happened to me this year.  I let it knock me down the first day.  In a big way.  The second day it still had a good hold on me.  By the third day, I am realizing that it will still be there with me, but it will not paralyze me or hold me down.
I will get back on my feet.  I will strive to make this situation change for the better.  It will not go away immediately, things will not change over night.  But I know that I have the power to put negative energy in to this or positive.  I choose positive.  It makes me happier, it makes my family happy.  It changes the way I feel inside and out.
Positive thoughts and Postive energy make me a better woman.
I love the feeling of peace inside of my mind and my soul.  It is fulfilling and beautiful.
Honestly we have been hit by a pretty hard loss the beginning of 2013.  I have heard of people losing their jobs, but never really thought it would happen to us.  Now that it has, I can relate to how devastating of a toll it takes on a your entire family.
We will persevere~We will be stronger~We will go forward!

Thank you for this rant.  I know this is a book page, but I intend from time to time to add a bit of my personal life too.  Otherwise you will never know the NarlyNut behind the blog.
Just know that if you have ever been through a tough situation~
YOU ARE NOT ALONE~!
Have a wonderful day friends and keep that positive energy.

by

Jessica Gibson

~Synopsis~

This is a story about Jillian Proctor.  She has the power of a good witch running through her veins.  Jilly embraces her witch ancestry from a very young age, while her twin sister Caroline wants nothing to do with it.

Jilly's path crosses with the handsome William Morgan.  He is an Amaranthine, meaning immortal.  Along with meeting William comes danger Jilly had no idea was coming.  It leads Jilly, Caroline, William and Jilly's best friend Emily down a devastating road of people from Williams past and other hidden dangers.

Caroline moves back home with Jilly after discovering her husband has been having an emotional affair with another woman.  It turns out, coming home may be the best decision Caroline has made in a while.  Caroline finally grabs hold of her own powers and Jilly trains her to become what she has had within her all along.  Together these sisters will unite, learn and fight for the ones they love.

 ~My Review~

I loved this book!  I have always had a fascination with the witch realm.  The grimoire, cauldron's, spells, potions and the magic of it all is intriguing to me.  Not to mention I was a big fan of Charmed. Yes, it was a guilty pleasure of mine. This book reminds me of it all in a big~awesome way.

The story moves along fairly quickly, but that didn't bother me one bit.  Jessica had me turning the pages at a fast pace.  The love story between William and Jilly makes it that more enchanting.....

I can't wait for they're relationship to move along in book two.  I started book two last night and I can't wait to see what Jessica has continued to do with this story line.

It was a magical~spellbinding and charming well written book.

"The Original Sin"
by
J.L. McCoy

~Synopsis~
Skye Morrison's life lately has been anything but ordinary. Attempting to pull together the pieces of her life that have been ripped to shreds after being kidnapped and tortured by Amun- who happens to be the father of all vampires-her dreams are haunted by memories of those recent fateful and horrific events. Skye struggles with her split feelings and the raw sexual tension with her lover, Jameson Doyle and boss Archer Rhys-the continuous object of her sexual fantasies. Residing at Archer's lakeside mansion with the rest of the vampire clan, Skye attempts to maintain a normal routine. With the vampire army, The Faithful, attempting unsuccessfully to capture Amun, her nightmares take her down a twisted spiral of entrapment and terror, taking its toll on her daily life. Haunted and hunted by the psychotic and mind-twisting Amun, Skye goes through dark and violent changes, revealing a side of herself she didn't know existed and ultimately leading to a shocking conclusion. With a climax that will leave you breathless and wanting more, don't miss the third chapter in the life of Skye Morrison.

~My Review~

J.L. McCoy has done it again!  She goes above and beyond my highest expectations.  I think to myself when an author writes a series of books, "How can this author come up with more prerequisites, creativity, artistry and vision?"
Yet she does it again...and again....
In this third installment of "The Skye Morrison Vampire Series," J.L. McCoy takes us on a continued ride of intense, enthralling, page turning fascination.

Skye Morrison is still living with her boss Archer Rhys.  He wants to keep her safe from Amun, (the father of all vampires). Amun held Skye captive and tortured her something fierce in "Sins of the Father."  In this book Amun is back in a remarkable way.  He comes to Skye in her dreams....Question is.....Is Amun really communicating with her through her dreams or not?

There are so many revelations that I refuse to give up in my review.  If you are big fan like I am...then you know why.

I could give you more but it will just ruin the profound and brilliant story line that Mrs. McCoy has once again pulled out of her imaginative mind.
I am beyond impressed with the ending.  She leaves me breathless and wanting more.   Spring cannot come fast enough for my Skye Morrison Vampire Series fix.
YOU ROCK

~New Review~

Tales Of Aradia
The Last Witch
Volume One
by: L.A. Jones

Synopsis
Unknown to the humans who hanged innocent people at the Salem Witch Trials, Real witches of the hidden race were slaughtered on the belief that they had betrayed the hiddens to the humans.  Not one witch survived the genocide, or so it was believed for more than three hundred years.  Until one day a girl named Aradia moves to Salem, Massachusetts, and all that changes...

~My Review~
Aradia is found by her adoptive parents Ross and Liza in the wilderness.  From the moment they adopted Aradia ,they know something is special.  As Aradia grows up she finds that she can do magical things that no one else can do.
Aradia is not your typical teenage girl.  Her parents move Aradia to Salem, due to a job transfer for her dad.
She dreads a new school, but soon will find out she is entering a world of vampires and werewolves. Among these worldy creatures, there are many hiddens around Aradia.  At first she has no idea;  She also has no idea what she is.
Aradia's dad is the DA to whom of which comes in to try and help solve a murder.  Aradia has powers to see things that have happened in the past and wants to help her dad solve the murder.
As time goes on Rai (Aradia), makes friends and realizes the school she is now attending has some very peculiar things happeningHer and her new found friend Roy, and her love interest Dax, go through out the story trying to figure out who is responsible for the murders. Along the way Aradia also discovers she is a witch;  The last witch!

I have mixed feelings on this book.
There were parts to where it would grab my attention and I would be very entertained.  Then I would come to a part to where it would drag on and explain much more than needed be.  I would easily get bored and it took me longer than usual to finish this book.  Don't get me wrong, I loved the story line L.A. Jones put together.  It just didn't hold my attention the way I wanted it too.
There were a few editing issues, but nothing to make a huge stink over.
In my honest opinion, it is one of those books that an individual would have to pick up and see for themselves.  There were so many lighthearted and humorous moments.  Aradia is a beauty to love. You have my opinion, but I also think you should judge this book for yourself!
I give this book 3and a half NarlyNut stars

 Temptation. Desire. Deception.

Everything about her is enthralling, enticing… until everything about her becomes deadly.

Alluring you into the center of her world, she’ll deprive you of reason, breath… life. And because you can’t help it, you’ll let her, and death never felt so good.

There is only one rule where she is from: Don’t become attached to your Allure, and Ryleigh has already broken that rule.

The decision to stay was easy, but being ready to handle everything that comes with her choice, is more then she bargained for when something unexpected happens. Ryleigh is thrown into a world she knows nothing about, and a past she can’t remember. Time is not Ryleigh’s only enemy, but the lack of it, will be the end of her immortality if she doesn’t remember what she is or the life she needs to take.

When the cost of immortality means consuming the life of someone you love, could you do it?!

A New Year

Well a New Year is upon us.  I am excited for change.  I want change in many areas of my life.
One would be health.  Two would be to lose weight, which comes with health.  Three, well I am setting a goal for reading and reviewing and of course blogging.

My love for reading and reviewing has escalated beyond my wildest imagination.  I knew I loved to read, but starting my book page was on a whim.  I went from starting a book page called "50 Shades of Books" to "NarlyNut's Book Lovers."  It just seemed more like me.  I wanted all of me involved and I do believe the name speaks volumes.

I am going to set a goal for reading.  Not sure how many I will set for one year, but it will be my biggest ever.
Reviewing?  I am just going to go with it and review for authors that ask for a review.  It never gets old helping an amazing author out.

The last six months I have gotten the hang of my book page.  Pretty easy.   Reviewing I am loving it and pretty much go with what I feel about the book.  I am enjoying the books, the reading and the reviewing process.  It just brings me joy to no end.

On to the blogging part of it all.  Well I am not so good at staying on top of it on a daily basis.  I also tend to stress my self out wondering if I will bore you guys to death. LOL.  Seems rational in a Narly kind of way.
I have come to realize that is o k.   This is a time for me to learn about blogging and to learn about myself, so I am hoping that the 23 of you that I am taking on the beginning of this journey hang in there with me.  That is all I ask.
With all of this said....lets make a change individually and together.

Here is to 2013 and change....;)

Love's True Second Chance

Love's True Second Chance
~by~
Jeff Dawson

  Synopsis
What ever happened to your first love?  How did their lives turn out?  Do they ever think about the wonderful times we spent together?  Those care-free days when the only thing that really mattered was walking hand in hand on long walks or hanging out with friends at the arcade.  Do they remember the first date and the first kiss?  Do they still remember us and what would happen if we w ever saw each other again?  Would the old feelings of the past be reignited, or would it be a simple hello, how have you been and we part paths again?
I always wondered how her life had turned out.  Through the years a business card would be left in a mailbox with no return call, letter or email.  I guess the memories would be just that, memories.  But in December of 2008, it was worth one more shot.  One more attempt to make contact with the one girl whose memory remained strong.  The one girl, who no matter how far I traveled or how hard I tried to suppress the memories of the past, they were always lying under the surface waiting to reawaken.  One more time, one more attempt, just one more try, and if nothing happens, let her memories fade, never to surface again.
It has been two weeks since the card was dropped off.  Well, I gave it my best shot.  I tried one more time and since there has been no contact, her memory is starting to fade.  I take our prom picture out of my wallet and place it in a small box with all of the remaining reminders of our love from so long ago.  The phone rings.  Must be someone with more bad news about why they can't deliver the materials ordered.  "This is Jeff"(what do you want!),  "This is Debbie."  My response was cold and quick, "And?"   A very long pause, "Jeff....this....is....Debbie."  I slowly remove both feet from my mouth.  It is her!  The long lost connection has been made.  Now what?
Join us for the most intense seven month "true love" one could ever have dreamed.  Travel back to high school when life was so easy, so care-free and the word worry didn't exist.  The chance meetings at college that at times were better forgotten.  To present day when we are both trying to figure out if the feelings from the past should remain in the past or is there still something there; unfinished business.  There is plenty of time to figure it all out, or is there?

~My Review~
This book is based upon Jeff's real life story of himself and his one true love, Debbie.
Debbie is dating Jeff's friend Clay while Jeff is dating Betsy.  The connection with Jeff and Betsy just isn't there and Clay and Debbie's courtship fades when Clay's new car puts Debbie in the back seat, so to speak.Debbie is very interested in Jeff, but Jeff tends to not see this so clearly at first.  Jeff realizes Debbie is into him and they begin dating.
It is a fun, beautiful, every chance spent together kind of courtship.  They can't seem to get enough of each other.
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end.  Jeff heads to college after graduation.  Jeff and Debbie try to make it work, but it proves to be too much for Debbie.  They part ways and life goes on for them.  They both marry and have children of their own.  Little do they know, each marriage has come to an end.
Every ten years Jeff would drop off a business card in Debbie's parents mailbox hoping to reconnect with Debbie.
One day in mid December Jeff receives a call at work.  It is Debbie.........
Book lovers~I refuse to spoil the rest of this beautiful love story.  It is a riveting, delicate lamentable ride.
Jeff takes us on his journey of reuniting with his "One True Love."  He takes us to a place of the joys of love.  He teaches us that the little things should not be taken for granted.
While reading this I knew there were moments to where I would be left in tears, there were also moments that Jeff made me laugh.  Jeff has a truly humorous side that you can't help but love.  Jeff is quite the character.  Very fun and a wonderful man to have on your side.
There are parts of this story that make you laugh, make you cry, and leave you breathless......
This is a must read book lovers and I give it 5 NarlyNut stars!
